Reassurance Seeking in OCD and Anxiety
Good article from the OCD Center of Los Angeles (by the way, my browser is giving me OCD over it's inability to understand that Los Angeles is indeed spelled correctly as is).
This has certainly been my experience with reassurance. It is a quick fix for my anxiety but only briefly and then I need another reassurance fix. Before long no amount of reassurance works.
As humans it is natural for us to want to reassure one another when in distress. As hard as it is for me to not reassure myself when stress, harder still is it to explain to someone else why they shouldn't reassure me either.
